UVA+B Sunfriend
The Challenge
About 90% of nonmelanoma and 65% melanoma skin cancers are associated with ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun. About 700,000 new cases are diagnosed each year, and the numbers are rising despite the increased use of sunscreen. However, the good properties of vitamin D, from sun exposure need to be maintained. We propose that the UVA+B SunFriend© featuring NASA UV sensor technology will provide health conscious individuals with an effective and inexpensive UVA and UVB monitoring aid to receiving healthier sun exposure.
Existing Technology
Current products and technology are based on estimated time exposures. None of them ...

BioClean Dishwasher
New dishwasher uses enzymes and bacteria to save water and energy while reducing environmental impact.
• Uses 10% of the water, 15% of the energy of a "green" dishwasher!
• Uses NO soap or other environmentally harmful substances!
During a time when energy and water shortages plague mankind, why are modern dishwashers so wasteful? Even the most modern, "green" dishwasher will use between 12 and 16 liters (3-4.25 gallons) of water per usage, and 1-2 KWh of energy. Or, the alternative is washing dishes by hand which uses much more water, more energy (From heating that water), and much ...

ION Windows
You're driving down a road at night, your head lights are really dull, and you can't see. Now I am proposing an idea that will revolutionize the technique of driving at night. I am currently taking this weather class at school and I got the best idea. Since weather personnel use infrared satellite images to see clouds at night on earth, why can't we have IR windows. If we had IR windows we could see so much further down the road and on the sides of the road. For example if something is moving in the forest and is ...
Projection Laptop With Detachable Touch Screen
Laptops generally have screens that range from 12 to 17 inches in size. By theory, the only way to increase the screen size of any laptop is to attach it to a bigger monitor or affix a projector to the laptop. The problem with those options is that they require extra cables, more accessories, and occupy unnecessary space. A projection laptop would solve all these issues by combining current technology available in the market place. By having a projector built into the back of the screen on a laptop the screen size now varies on the distance from the ...
Smart Information Finder and Controller (SIFC)
The SIFC device obtains data from physical objects to virtual objects, shares between two virtual objects and controls the physical object if it can be, based on certain control boundaries. A physical object can be a book, a car or any kind of electronics inside the home or office and any kind of physical objects around us. The physical objects are classified into
1) Active objects and
2) Passive objects
Only information will be provided about the passive objects and cannot be controlled. Whereas for active objects, information and its current status are provided as well as ...
Crash Helmet with Thermoelectric Cooling and Heat
The helmet has an Integral Thermoelectric/Pelzer Device with attached External Heat sink and an Internal Cold sink. Small quiet internal fans or Internal Blower force air over the cold sink into internal Duct work to cool the riders head as the Heat Sink draws off hot air outside. The Helmet plugs into a standard 12V power supply. It has a reversible plug attachment that allows reverse 12V polarity. The Integral Thermoelectric/Pelzer Device then runs in reverse, this allows the helmet to be in Heat mode. Everything, heat, cooling, fan/blower speed is controlled electronically.

Multifuctional Portable Beds
The novel idea is in the Basic Unit, composed of two covers, which constitute the bed, that can be used independently of the mattress. These male and female parts have measures and holes in the appropriate configuration, to assemble themselves in different forms depending on the necessity to constitute itself into a bed, one bed, bunk beds, or several bunk beds. Pieces can be used as a library, base for two mattresses, storage, clothing storage, by making multiple unions through multi-assembling special attachments that, lock themselves between them.
Those elements are joints, bolts, ladders, extensions, supports, stairs, tables, hooks, ...
DAMPS Technology MKIV Smart Boots
DAMPS MKIV Smart Boots utilizes the most advanced shock mitigation suspension/propulsion technology in the world.
DAMPS Technology MKIV Smart Boots utilizes opposing super magnets in the heel of footwear for advanced suspenstion/propulsion shock mitigation.
In testing with Special Operations Forces (SOF), DAMPS recorded over a 68% increase in heel strike shock mitigation, when compared to conventional footwear. That means soldiers, anyone can walk ten miles and his or her body receives the equivalent motion shock of only three miles.
30% of new recruits suffer impact related lower extremity injures, resulting in loss of training time.
Heel strike injury (plantar fasciitis), is the number ...
Self Balanced Servicing Tray
The context of use of my design is self balanced servicing tray. The problem that my design solves is the spilling or dropping the plates, cups or any other dishes served. My design provides a safe, spill proof, accident proof servicing experience. It is not just a servicing tray but it is an aesthetic, post-modern looking servicing element for casual or elegant use.
The innovation in my design is the its unique property of self balanced which uses the Earth's gravitational force. This design addresses directly the opportunity described above. I brought a new mechanism to servicing tray and ...
Ultralight SCUBA Diving Device
My idea: an Ultralight SCUBA Diving Device or C.U.B.A. -- for Compact Ultralight Breathing Apparatus. It's essentially a low-tech, no frills, pure oxygen Recreational Rebreather for shallow water diving on vacations. SCUBA diving rigs are heavy, bulky, complicated, expensive and waste about 95% of their compressed breathing gas. SCUBA uses compressed air consisting of approximately 78% Nitrogen which is unusable, and of the remaining 21% (Oxygen), only 1/5 is used by the diver before being exhaled. SCUBA rigs are also too bulky and heavy to be taken as carry-on luggage when traveling on airlines.
My simple pure oxygen recreational ...

A 21st Century bed: The Nest
A major problem for many people is getting good sleep. Poor sleep can occur in a home, a hotel or a hospital. Sleep is affected by light, sound, temperature, odor, bed support and sense of security. Another sleep related problem is that electrical control in bedrooms, such as light switches and alarms, are difficult to control in the dark. The Nest is a concept of sleeping apparatus for the 21st century that solves these problems and improves the quality of sleep.
A base supports a mattress of supporting media. The resting media is held in a 4 inch thick ...
FreeWheel Wheelchair Attachment
The FreeWheel is a durable, light weight (5 lbs.) aluminum third-wheel that quickly and easily clamps to the footrest of a rigid-frame manual wheelchair. It instantly turns a wheelchair into an all-terrain chair. By lifting up the front casters the FreeWheel easily navigates rough terrain, from uneven sidewalks and curbs to grass, dirt trails and snow covered areas.
Wheelchair users' mobility is significantly reduced by the small front casters that, while great on nice hard smooth surfaces, are dangerous on any type of rough terrain or thick carpet. This is no longer the case when a FreeWheel is attached. ...

The car application in the phone is first activated and connected to the car’s computer. The phone communicates continuously with the computer. The car’s computer and the phone continuously tallies the information with certain predetermined values that are already fed ...
G-Force Air Freshener
The idea of the G-Force Air Freshener came about as a result of the ever present need for a fresh-scented kitchen. A typical cause of bad odor in the kitchen is waste that has been lingering in the trash receptacle for an extended period of time. The practice of discarding bagged waste prematurely (before the trash bag is full) is the currently accepted method of eliminating an unpleasant scent. Obviously, this can be uneconomical due to the unnecessary use of excess trash bags, and one can see that there is much room for improvement.

Smart Electricity Billing System
Our project “SMART ELECTRICITY BILLING SYSTEM” is a humble attempt to eliminate the waste of time in taking meter reading and also to reduce human efforts.
The present system of billing for electricity includes a tedious job of taking the reading from the meter of each consumer. For this the man who takes the reading has to go to each and every meter and take the reading manually. This is a very time consuming process and hence we may need more men to do this work and hence become costly.
The smart billing is a solution for these problems. ...
