High-Flow Lift Pump

In fighting wildfires, and in many other applications, there is a need to lift water a few feet, say from a creek or river, to fill a header tank or mobile water tender. Particularly in firefighting, turnaround time is what measures success at the end of the day.

The current invention comprises an axial flow impeller pump section located at the inlet end of the transfer hose, a power head at the flex-fitting located near the destination (tank or truck), and a flexible drive shaft running inside the transfer hose. Sections of transfer hose may be ...

Mag-Lift Handle
Problem: When moving or lifting furniture and appliance items, difficulty occurs when there is no handle on a flat metal surface. The item may not be too heavy to lift, just awkward. Some items, such as file cabinets, have sharp metal edges in areas use to lift the cabinet; many hands have been cut moving these. A dryer, washer, cooking range, and a refrigerator are not too heavy for two men to lift but, with no handles the job becomes tricky.
Solution: The “Mag-Lift” is a portable electro-magnet enabling it to become a ready handle, which can be placed ...

Our reliance on fossil fuels has been a problem for generations and in the near future we will see a global crisis resulting from this dependence. The barriers to our society moving beyond fossil fuels to renewable sources of energy include both the cost and the inefficiency of the existing renewable energy systems. The ideas that I am presenting will address these issues.

Wind farms in their current incarnation are effective in only one direction and they are massive in size. To improve the efficiency of the conventional wind turbines, I propose a closed design that incorporates a system ...

One of the biggest problems with any device that needs an electric motor is the faster a motor turns and the more torque that is required, the more current and/or voltage is required to run it which limits the time a motor can run from a stored energy source like a battery. My motor modification enables a motor to run at variable speeds and produce a high torque while maintaining a fixed current and voltage.

By extending the time a motor can run from a battery will enable any device needing a motor to run with fewer battery changes ...

The function of our production is ‘floor cleaning’. From market survey, we found out two main aspects here:
1. Labour
2. Power usage as we need to use as low as we can.
Another interesting demand was: a mechanism which will dry out floor (Most people use liquid water. High costly equipments use steam and they utilize lots of power). So to meet all these we made something which is completely manually run and add a mechanism like one used in toys’ to run fans. The drying out is especially suitable for humid countries.
Now, ...

If anything good could be said about the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, it would be that it has alerted us to our unpreparedness. It is my intention to remedy that with this device.

The device is designed so that when it is lowered into an open pipe and its threaded shaft is rotated, it will expand to grip the pipe and plug the open end. It requires rotational force alone to operate and it is designed in a way that reduces the chance of malfunction. It is also easy to use, and therefore less subject to operator ...

The Inter - Nodal Connector Architecture [INCA] (REG.U.S.PAT.OFF. #6,869,246) provides a Universal, one-piece-part dynamic assembly system capable of constructing complex frameworks of any kind which can then be completely collapsed to a fraction of their original volumes, moved to remote locations, and then instantly deploy themselves into their original framework/shapes. While not self-assembling , these systems are self-deploying; creating the possibility of 'pop-up' shelters of all kinds. As these INCA structures are dynamic and capable of shifting shape and loads, they will provide rapid-deployment earthquake-proof shelters for emergency and military field use.Recent preliminary structural analysis indicates INCA Domes will ...

Many inlets, estuaries, and wetlands suffer from a common heritage: contaminated sediment. Scientists are only now beginning to realize that old, contaminated sediments covered with new, clean sediments does not mitigate ongoing damage from the buried sediments. For example, fish flies burrow 5 - 10cm into the bottom of rivers and lakes, and spend two years there before emerging for a few days to mate and reproduce on land. When they emerge from the sediment, significant amounts of buried contaminants are released, leading to algae blooms, oxygen depletion, and fish kills in areas where the use of contaminated storm ...

Stationary computer without the big box:

Many people use a laptop instead of a traditional stationary computer just for saving space. They use it on their desk just as a desktop and do not change the location even if it is possible.

Mostly this is more expensive than a desktop computer and you are stuck with a relative small monitor.

As you anyway have to use a keyboard, you could as well build the electronics into the keyboard as one unit. The laptop computers around shows that making electronics small enough is not an issue, so all that are needed, for instance ...

Everybody is a witness to what is going on in the gulf of Mexico, millions of gallons of fuel are leaking from a broken pipe from a BP offshore drilling platform. It is only getting bigger and is now worse than anyone thought. The oil spill has now surpassed BP's "worst case scenario," meaning it could become a major ecological disaster and could even begin to rival the damage of the Exxon Valdez Oil Spill in Prince William Sound, Alaska, in 1989. BP failed to contain this disaster because they were not prepared to deal with such a disaster. ...

An apparatus and method for capturing 3 dimensional tomographically registered full spectrum computer digitized images of internal structures of specimens is described. Instrument Collected 2D data slices are later processed to create extremely intricate 3D models in full color. They are naturally registered and aligned datasets with detail beyond any known invention that can reveal structure potentially to the 100 nanometer realm.

By use of specialized mounting systems and methods, dried or frozen specimens are cast into rigid optical or opaque mounting compounds in specialized lapidary mounts. The lapidary system uses a lapping wheel platen that is a ...

Moving water from an available reservoir source to a distant storage location for irrigation distribution, or other use, without incurring high initial system costs, installation expenses and recurring operational costs is a fundamental problem found throughout the world; in particular Ethiopia, Niger and other drought stricken areas. One method of overcoming these problems is outlined in this technical brief.

There have been a variety of developments over the years involving the use of Solar Energy to accomplish water pumping for irrigation and other uses with the use of Solar Stirling Hot Air Engines among these, however it appears no ...

In the current situation, transportation is very essential for human life. Everyone needs to move around the Earth for their daily needs. And they expect fastest and cheapest transportation. Among transportation methods, air way is the very fastest. We can round the Earth within a day. And it is costlier too. Coming to safety aspects, we cannot say that is safer. So we need safer transportation. The sea way transportation gets first place in safer transportation. But it would take lots of time to reach of destination. So my idea is to speed up the sea transportation by boosting the ship. ...

This proposal relates to conceptual design of "valved two stroke engine with extended expansion". In a four stroke engine, power stroke occurs once in a two rotation whereas in a two stroke power stroke occurs once in each rotation. Theoretically a two stroke engine produces double the power of four stroke engine .Due to absence of valves in 2 stroke engine, some part of the fresh charge inducted leaves out through exhaust .This causes loss of mileage and Hydrocarbon emission .The proposed engine has Transfer valve which prevents such carry over and at the same time power stroke occurs ...

The Problem
Friction is the world's single biggest waste of energy. New polymeric and nano-composite bearing material “recipes” promise substantial friction reducing solutions. However, their development and application are often hindered by current tribological (the study of lubrication, friction and wear) test systems, driven by three recognized issues:
• Long test time: Due to measurement limitations, it can take a test duration over 200 hours to assess tribological properties at a single pressure (P) and sliding velocity (V) combination.
• A flawed assumption in application models concerning wear rates being proportional to a constant PV. Long test time makes gathering the ...

Abstract

Porcupine Quill ceramic heat exchanger promotes both - free air circulation and maximization of caloric transfer capabilities. The ceramic has half the weight of copper and three-quarters the weight of aluminum and is resistant to most corrosive or abrasive effluents with caloric conductance of .375, relative to that of copper. For various liquids this type of exchanger offers greater heat conductance per inch of construction than other types of exchangers. The quills originate at the center of the tube, and travel through the wall of the tube to the air. As the construction is molded in place, there ...

The DynaVac is a tool that I invented, developed, applied for a patent on, and marketed mainly to Broadcast Television & Radio stations worldwide to be used to clean electronics and electro-mechanical assemblies better and quicker than traditional methods. In its simplest terms, the DynaVac is basically a hand-held, custom-machined vacuum nozzle with a precision, push-button spray nozzle attached at the vacuum nozzle end. The other end of the fluid push-button assembly tubing is connected to a commercial-grade, pressurized canister of electronics cleaning fluid. The operator turns on the vacuum, typically a shopvac, brings the nozzle tip to within ...

We are seeing a tremendous increase in efficiency of vehicles by using diesel and electricity in a hybrid configuration.

Perhaps this is time to combine the natural gas many have available at our home and which is a produce if the USA, for home power. (Not in a fuel cell the price is too high still. No a modern Tiny Diesel not powerful enough to handle the power demands at peak.

Electricity although it is "Marvelous" is not always the best answer.

First we will power the engine from natural gas from the piped municipal supply if possible. secondarily ...
