Child-safe G.A.R. Faucet system
Awhile back I read several reports on child injuries in the home as I designed my ECO-Fridge to make the Kitchen safer, but I also found a alarming problem for Kids being buned and scalded in the home. The bathroom had a near 95% rate for scalds from hot water use,the Kitchen was the balance. Australia had a extensive report for scalds and I was shocked into doing something to stop it.
The basic pictures show the Home shower area and Bathtub faucet style used today along with my edits to show the Green/Amber/Red method to deliver water.First off,it makes no sense turn on the hot water to wash your hands and you must run the cold water to mix it and make warm.You just paid to heat the water and now it's cooled off,so why not install a Solar-Powered 2nd tank set to about 85 degree for minor jobs to wash hands or rinse off dishes. Use the Hot Tank at about 125 degrees for the dishwasher or shower area that adults use,except change the faucets to a 3-colour system because kids can't read the "C" or "H" in plastic aor chrome disk inserts,but they do see Traffic Lights every day and know that Green is Good,Amber is caution with some safety and Red is danger of stop.
The current solutions to install Heat-Valves or add-on items that complicate things is just a waste of time and does little to stop the conditions that put kids at risk.
The G.A.R. faucets will always have the RED one at adult height or away from kids reach in the Kitchen but still close from a wheelchair for a adult.
The Social value and savings to health cost benefits everyone and has one less child with psychological trauma to cause future issues or a fear of water and heat. The same water we drink to keep us alive can drown us too,but we don't stop drinking and should not stop swimming either.
I hope to build a Model home with all my Invention in it as a CAD file virtual home,then a scale model cut-away version and next a full scale partial home for a Exhibition Home show to set new ADA and Safety Codes.
