Child education is a very important thing in education system of any country. Introducing alphabets to children is not an easy task at all. So we can see lot of alphabet books. But unfortunately these books still use traditional methods and they are not very effective. In addition children are very reluctant to use them and most of the occasions they are forced.
Solution is to be more interactive and reward the children when they do well. So we can use interactive augmented reality
If we want to teach English alphabet we can use English letters as augmented reality markers. My idea is to draw the letter as the marker. Since the drawn letter is recognized as a marker we can augment graphics, sounds and etc. This is my main idea and I have not seen it in anywhere else. Marker based AR is around for years, but no one has tried something like this. The system can be presented in two ways
1 There is a PC or laptop, which runs the system and child can show the drawn picture to the web cam and the screen will show the AR content.
2 The child can where a gadget like google glass which has AR system installed. When he/she looks through the gadget in to the drawn letter AR content will be displayed via hos gadget if he is successful.
In addition we can use this system to ask child to randomly draw letters, if he/she correctly does it, they will be rewarded with AR content.
This system is bit similar. But my idea is to let the child to draw the marker. That is the main difference in my idea
I have created two prototypes one is using orgart and other one is using junaio. Any AR library which supports for basic marker tracking can be used.
