The present invention is in the technical field of mechatronics. More particularly, this invention is categorized in the field of aerial and ground robots. This robot is a multi-role robot doing both aerial and ground missions.
A robot is an electromechanical machine. It gains the control signals from the sensors and by processing the signals it reacts in a predefined algorithm. This invention is a multi-role or a multi-functional robot. It has a ground mode and a flight mode.
Aerial robots or drones can only fly. The ground robot or UGV can only move on the ground. They have their own capabilities in doing specific mission. But if they are merged together in a single platform then the newborn system can do both missions simultaneously. The drones and ground robots are popular systems in many fields such as photography, data monitoring, surveillance, search and rescues or military applications. However, the traditional single role machine would be vulnerable to lose the mission if it operates in a joint mission needing a lot of adjustments, operators and sensors to handle the mission. While, the multi-role machine needs less sensors or operators for doing a joint ground and air mission resulting in the reduction of the cost and the time of finishing a joint mission. Since the robot has both ground and flight capability the best way to describe the related art is to name the same or the similar machines having one or both modes.
In this invention by using a multi task wheel, the brushless motors are being used to either spin the propeller in the air or accelerate the robot on the road. The multi task wheels are attached to a pair of hinge robotic arms.
Both arms carry a pair of multi task wheels. The hinge joint have one degree of freedom. It means that the robotic arms have two orientating states. Zero degree for the ground mode where the arms are closed and the wheels are on the ground. Ninety degrees for the flight mode, where the arms are opened.
