According to the EPA, every weekend about 54 million Americans mow their lawns, using more than 15,000,000 gallons of gas (that’s more the 800 million annually) and producing tons of air polluting volatile organic compounds and nitrogen oxides. More than 325,000 gallons (that’s 17,000,000 annually) are spilled just filling them up – that’s more than what was spilled by the Exxon Valdez disaster.
Studies have shown that one gas mower running for an hour emits the same amount of pollutants as eight new cars driving 55 miles in an hour.
Replacing 500 gas mowers with electric or non-powered mowers would ...
In India thousands of railways travel everyday from one destination to another. The engine is the most important device of railway and it works on the principle of conversion of heat energy into mechanical energy.
A large amount of heat is dissipated through the fins from the engine when it starts and runs. The idea is to utilize this heat energy to generate electricity that may be used to lightening, cooling fan, charging of mobile/laptops and other appliances.
The idea of energy efficient railway for transportation seems to naturally introduce the concept of using waste ...
We are well aware of the scenario of crimes against women all over the world. Wouldn’t it be better for women if they could make their family aware of any problem at the time it is happening by just pushing a button? Imagine if there was something which could enable others to view the current situation you are going through. This project aims at helping a woman in a difficult situation by letting her family get an idea of her whereabouts and the situation she is currently facing.
In this project, we will be using a separate hardware ...

My design is based on a laser sail but with a laser and a mirror attached and another stationary mirror. The stationary mirror reflects the laser back into the other mirror which reflects the laser back into the stationary mirror and so on and so forth propelling the non-stationary mirror and laser. What makes my design novel is the laser and a mirror are incorporated into the thruster. Whereas similar designs have either a mirror or laser with one stationary and the other moving. My design has both the laser and a mirror moving with a second stationary mirror. ...

Modern traction control systems typically rely on friction in the form of brakes, clutches, or built-in torque bias ratios in order to mitigate wheel slip. However, under certain conditions, traction control systems may not be able to apply sufficient friction to control a suddenly slipping wheel. In addition, they may not respond fast enough to prevent the vehicle from losing its forward momentum. For these reasons, locking differentials, or lockers are generally preferred by off-roading enthusiasts. However, the operation of lockers requires special knowledge and can lead to rapid tire wear or driveline damage if left engaged.

[A Quadruple Impact Development (QID) paradigm that simultaneously answers the twin-problems of Global Warming and Poverty (GWP)]
THE PROBLEM: Global Warming and Poverty (GWP) are corollary in that both are simultaneously increasing due to the same basic cause: Wastage and Over consumption by the minority who control almost all human resources and governance. The disparity is such that about 15% of the population enjoy 85% of world GDP; and the balance 85% are able to enjoy just 15%. Further as this disparity is continually increasing due to the “richer” class wanting to overs end and ...
Zipr Shift LLC produces a revolutionary bio-inspired closure which mimics the spine in order to achieve the features essential for a flexible, durable, hermetic closure. The closure, currently named the Klōs® brand closure, is a synergy of the two current standards of zipper technology: the slide fastener comprised of rigid teeth or coils and the wholly flexible press-to-close fastener of packaging. This harmony of rigidity and flexibility enables the Klōs® brand closure to effectively eliminate the problems yet maintain the benefits of the two 19th century closure technologies, surpassing both products in utility for 21st applications in defense, aerospace, ...

Until now generating plasmas required large amounts of energy. Cold plasma technology strongly reduced the amount of energy required for plasma generation and modern techniques makes it now affordable.
Our αNC PLASMA technique could even more reduce the energy consumption and separate elements (individual atoms) at molecular level and re-arrange them in other metallic bonding, elemental or compound molecules. This opens a variety of applications.
αlpha solutions successfully developed their own new cold plasma in such a way as to sustain cold plasma indefinitely (cold plasma "channel"), utilizing uniform large areas of plasma in a small plasma unit or ...
