Background and Motivation
The conceptual manufacturing process of Hybrid Single Shot (HSS) has been developed by Clemson Composite Center to enable production of customized hybrid structures in one single operation. The metal-polymer sandwich structures provide superior properties such as high bending inertia, sound and heat insulation, and high energy absorption, which make them attractive for aerospace and recently automotive applications. Conventionally, 3D sandwich structures are produced either through a multi-stage manufacturing process or by forming a prelaminated blank. The former approach is not efficient enough for mass productions and the later one limited the forming geometry due to excessive shear tension and interlayer delamination. Hence, in this work, a new process is introduced in which a 3D sandwich structure ...

Air-conditioning systems spend most (up to 90%) effort on cooling air. Cooling people is just a byproduct of the whole process. To reduce energy demand we need to implement approaches that reverse this situation and focus on directly cooling people with minimum conditioning of surrounding air.

Based on the ASHRAE Standards, thermal comfort is defined based on an average between air temperature and Median Radiant Temperature (MRT) of surrounding surfaces. Hence, lowering the MRT enables us to achieve thermal comfort without intensive use of air-conditioning.

Standard radiant cooling enables lower MRT through cold panels attached or embedded to ceilings, floors and/or walls. Cool water is continuously pumped through a network of pipes bonded to the panels to keep them ...

Bags have an important role in our lives in terms of both functionality and aesthetically. In other words, fashion is not just about the outlook of these complementary accessories but also it is about sustainability. Buying bags just because of their different sizes and outlooks causes a storage problem for many people and an absolute pressure on our resources.

A kind of 2in1 bag system as seen in photo (can be 3,4..in1 with the additional colorful middle parts supplied as a set) which requires a less storage area and more friendly to our resources can be an alternative solution to different size & outlook needs of a person.

Potentially, women are first to adopt it since bags are important ...

Problem Statement:
Over 600 million Africans lack access to electricity; 80 million of these are Nigerians. This forces families and local street food vendors to spend a huge part of their income continuously on fuel in kerosene lamps for lighting. Mobile phone use is on the rise too and possessing one entails locating electricity to recharge which is even more expense and difficult.

Our Product:
Ina Lite is a sustainable, affordable, portable, lightweight, thermoelectric generator that harnesses heat energy to generate electricity which is accessible from a USB power port.

How it works:
-The User places the copper conductor in the heat source
-Heat is then converted to electricity through the thermoelectric generator
-The energy generated is channeled to a ...

The real-time water quality monitoring and notification system (water QMS) measures the essential qualities of water -- the water PH, temperature, turbidity (cloudiness of water), and water level in the tank -- in real time. The system consists of multiple sensors to measure the standards of water in the tank, the micro-controller to analyze the readings and the GSM module to send the information to the watching centre through SMS. It is a true time system, which is able to measure the standards of water endlessly, and can send the measured values to the watching centre when each predefined time. I developed the device to allow people to have access to safe water in their daily ...

This project is about building a new mechanism that ensures the safety of wheelchair users going up and down an escalator. This is done by modifying the current escalators bed (upper layer in which we place our foot). The main concern of wheelchair users going upward on an escalator is a small backward force on the wheelchair or instability results in a very bad accident and could flip the wheelchair backward. So usually peoples on the wheelchair grab the handrails tight going upward and downward. This is very risky because if the hands of the percent slip we are looking at some serious damage. Aside from this risk, it is not comfortable on the ride and many public services ...

According to the World Health Organization, there are over 1 Billion people with disabilities on the planet. They are the group with the highest risk of social exclusion. Around 300 million people with disabilities are non-verbal and depend on alternative communication devices.

Moved by the needs of his disabled daughter, our CEO and Founder Carlos Pereira created Livox, an alternative communication software for non-verbal people with disabilities and people with learning impairments.

Through Livox can speak, learn how to read, how to write and abstract concepts.

What makes our software unique is the use of Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing.

Through Machine Learning Livox shows fewer options on a screen. These options will be based on the context ...

NASA inventors have developed a set of puncture self-healing materials comprised of commercially available, known self-healing polymer resin and additive blends. A range of puncture healing blends was developed by melt blending self-healing polymers with non-self-healing polymeric materials.

Puncture healing capability of the melt blends improves at higher temperatures
Thermoplastic materials that can repeatedly and intrinsically self-heal without the need for foreign inserts or fillers (such as microencapsulated monomer)

Blend of self-healing polymer materials with high strength polymer resins potentially enables the materials to be used in structural, load bearing applications

Radiation shielding
Fuel tank liners
Healing layers in ballistic protection for armor, helmets and other personal protective equipment
Packaging material
Human ...

Dual-Adaptive Camouflage, or DAC

Adaptive camouflage merely to an environment's background scenery is only half of the property of true invisibility.

It require a dual-adaptive camouflage; one adaptable to the outside of the suit ( usually the case) itself, and it's background scenery taking both as one complete outside environment, and another part of it adaptable to the interior moving parts of the puppet Light-Interface of the object, or suit ( usually the case).

I say " usually the case" in this instance because it may not be a suit, but the dual-adaptive camouflage invisibility would still exist in a potential state even if it were a fixed Light-Interface System, simply owing to the concept of the Light-Interface form ...

Idea - Near bodies of water (oceans, lakes, rivers) where unwanted algae blooms flourish seasonally, build oil-producing manufacturing facilities which utilize algae that is deliberately produced in or near those facilities as a raw material resource.

Run these manufacturing facilities 24/7 as regular oil-producing operations and where algae is deliberately grown and then used to manufacture oil, and where the spent algae is used to produce marketable fertilizers. Then, when unwanted algae blooms appear in the adjacent bodies of water, continuously siphon off the algae-infested water, strain the unwanted algae out, return the clean water to the adjacent water body, and then "add" that "strained and unwanted algae" to the 24/7 manufacturing operations that already depend on algae ...
