Background and Motivation
The conceptual manufacturing process of Hybrid Single Shot (HSS) has been developed by Clemson Composite Center to enable production of customized hybrid structures in one single operation. The metal-polymer sandwich structures provide superior properties such as high bending inertia, sound and heat insulation, and high energy absorption, which make them attractive for aerospace and recently automotive applications. Conventionally, 3D sandwich structures are produced either through a multi-stage manufacturing process or by forming a prelaminated blank. The former approach is not efficient enough for mass productions and the later one limited the forming geometry due to excessive shear tension and interlayer delamination. Air-conditioning systems spend most (up to 90%) effort on cooling air. Cooling people is just a byproduct of the whole process. To reduce energy demand we need to implement approaches that reverse this situation and focus on directly cooling people with minimum conditioning of surrounding air.
Based on the ASHRAE Standards, thermal comfort is defined based on an average between air temperature and Median Radiant Temperature (MRT) of surrounding surfaces. Hence, lowering the MRT enables us to achieve thermal comfort without intensive use of air-conditioning.

Idea - Near bodies of water (oceans, lakes, rivers) where unwanted algae blooms flourish seasonally, build oil-producing manufacturing facilities which utilize algae that is deliberately produced in or near those facilities as a raw material resource.
Run these manufacturing facilities 24/7 as regular oil-producing operations and where algae is deliberately grown and then used to manufacture oil, and where the spent algae is used to produce marketable fertilizers.
