The Portable Intermittent Fault Detector (PIFD) product family is an advanced prognostic and diagnostic tool that is purpose-built to supplement traditional test equipment and address the decades-old issue of intermittent failures that drive No Fault Found (NFF) test results. The patented Intermittent Fault Detector™ (IFD™) technology from Universal Synaptics Corporation can simultaneously and continuously monitor every circuit path of a Unit Under Test (UUT) for intermittent failures as short as 50 nanoseconds.

The PIFD specifically addresses the $5.5 billion annual non-value-added expense to the Department of Defense (DoD), conclusively linked to intermittent faults / No Fault Found (NFF).

The PIFD has achieved Authority to Operate (ATO) on the F-35 Global Program, having already solved over 90 distinct wiring issues across the global fleet. The PIFD is also approved by Boeing and included in Boeing Aircraft Maintenance Manuals (AMMs), Chapter 20 "General Wire Maintenance and Intermittent Fault Detection & Isolation".

The PIFD meets MIL-PRF-32516, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-1472, and MIL-STD-810, and is CE-marked.
