Traflen (Traffic Law Enforcer) is an intelligent traffic monitoring and law enforcement device designed to improve road safety through automated traffic violation detection. The system provides up to 270° of coverage and is programmed to identify and record a wide range of traffic offences, including driving on the wrong side of the road, failing to stop at stop signs, ignoring traffic signals, failing to yield to pedestrians, and other traffic-related violations.

The concept is primarily aimed at South Africa, where road safety remains a significant challenge and compliance with traffic regulations is often inconsistent. By providing continuous, automated monitoring, Traflen aims to support law enforcement efforts, improve accountability, and encourage safer driving behaviour.

The device incorporates a multi-sensor array consisting of high-resolution cameras and supporting sensors capable of monitoring traffic, identifying vehicles, reading number plates, and detecting traffic violations in real time. To ensure reliable operation, Traflen is equipped with a top-mounted solar panel and an internal battery system, allowing continuous operation during periods of poor weather, power outages, or in locations without direct access to the electrical grid.

Each unit also features Wi-Fi and 4G connectivity, enabling secure transmission of violation data to the appropriate traffic management systems. This allows offences to be processed rapidly, notifications to be issued efficiently, and reduces reliance on constant human supervision. Automated operation also minimizes the risk of missed violations due to limited officer availability or resource constraints.

By operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, Traflen provides a scalable and cost-effective solution for traffic monitoring and enforcement.
