The Road Signaling System for Private Medical Transport (SSTMP) is a social innovation proposal aimed at improving communication between drivers during the transport of people going through special medical situations.

The system seeks to strengthen civic empathy, promote road solidarity, and contribute to the protection of vulnerable people without altering current traffic regulations or replacing professional emergency services.

Thousands of families carry out medical transports daily in private vehicles due to urgent medical appointments, hospital discharges, recent surgical procedures, or reduced mobility situations. 

In these cases, other drivers are completely unaware of the situation inside the vehicle. 

This lack of information may generate: 

• Sudden maneuvers.

• Unnecessary risks for vulnerable patients.
• Difficulties during delicate transports.
• Lack of spontaneous cooperation from other road users due to ignorance.

The proposal seeks to address this need through a simple, low-cost, and quickly implementable tool.

Meaning:

Urgent Medical Care Transport 

Use: 

It will be used when the vehicle is transporting a person who is injured, has had an accident, or requires immediate medical attention. 

Social Message: 

"We request understanding and cooperation in order to reach the destination safely."

Red Flag

Meaning:

Fragile Patient or Patient in Recovery 

Use: 

It will be used when the vehicle is transporting recently operated patients, people under sensitive medical treatments, or conditions that require especially smooth or slow driving.

Social Message:

"We drive cautiously to protect a vulnerable person."

General Objective:

To improve road communication in special medical situations through a voluntary visual identification system.
