The Grounded Mobile Command Center is a mission-ready, all-electric vehicle platform designed to help government teams deploy, coordinate, and operate in the field without relying on fixed facilities, generators, or lengthy setup. Built around a medium-duty electric chassis, the system combines an expandable command body, integrated auxiliary power, satellite and cellular connectivity, and Grounded+ software for remote monitoring, diagnostics, and system control.
The vehicle is designed as a mobile operating environment, not just transportation. The concept includes three separate access points: a cab pass-through, a curbside main entrance, and a rear bathroom entrance. This allows different personnel, visitors, and operators to move through the vehicle efficiently based on the mission. Two slide-out expansions increase the usable command space from an 8.5-foot unexpanded body width to a 12-foot expanded workspace. The driver-side expansion is 15 feet long, the curbside expansion is 13 feet long, and the overall command center body is 22 feet long.
Inside, the layout supports command, coordination, and field operations. The driver side includes a wall of monitors, bench seating with storage, overhead cabinets, flip-down tables, and a stowable monitor. The curbside layout includes an IT cabinet, counter, sink, refrigerator, flip-down chairs, dry erase boards, and an interview room. This creates a flexible workspace for emergency management, public works, traffic response, utility coordination, events, law enforcement support, permitting, and civic engagement.
What makes the design novel is the integration of vehicle architecture, onboard power, connectivity, and software into one repeatable platform. Traditional command vehicles are often custom one-off builds or generator-dependent mobile offices. Grounded’s approach standardizes the foundation while allowing the layout and equipment package to be configured around the mission. The platform becomes the workspace, power source, communications hub, and operational coordination point.
The power and connectivity systems are central to the design. Grounded+ provides software visibility, remote diagnostics, system monitoring, satellite and cellular connectivity, and auxiliary power system oversight. This allows agencies to support long shifts while reducing dependence on external power sources or idling vehicles. The all-electric chassis foundation also supports cleaner operation, quieter deployment, and lower operating complexity for municipalities and agencies working toward fleet modernization goals.
The Mobile Command Center would be produced through a repeatable manufacturing process using a standardized electric chassis, modular body architecture, pre-engineered interior components, integrated wiring and power systems, and configurable mission packages. This allows the same platform to be adapted for command, public health, field service, outreach, and emergency response applications without redesigning every vehicle from scratch.
The result is a scalable mobile infrastructure platform for government fleets that improves response readiness, field coordination, crew productivity, and public service delivery.
