Burt Rutan, founder of Scaled Composites, gave a talk discussing aircraft designs he would like to see constructed, tested, and improved. The model 382-4 as he described weighed roughly 1,400 pounds. Using AI, OpenVSP, and other engineering tools I have sized an airframe which can use off the shelf parts and best practices of homebuilt aircraft to achieve an empty weight below 500 pounds at a cost of well under 10,000 USD.
I have designed and build many machines including computers, rockets, chuck gliders, free flight models, RC models, bicycles, tricycles, cars, boats, and CNC machines.
I possess virtual employees by virtue of open source networking and software deployed accross Microsoft, Google, and Apple hardware. I will use these employees/agents to coordinate operations to leanly develop a Minimum Viable Product which will carry a full sized pilot/passenger reliably and safely.
I am a longtime member of the EAA, the IHPVA, and various other interest groups which ply engineering to expand the capabilities of human.
It is the combination of ICE and multiple electric motors which allows division of labor and unique flight behavior with greatly expanded range using common devices that distinguishes this project.
Whether my project is accepted or not, I will achieve the project title: a practical, affordable eVTOL.
Thank you for your consideration. I wish you and yours the very best.
