The Smart-Pooch Alert System is an innovative wearable solution designed to eliminate "indoor accidents" for pet owners. By integrating low-cost, high-efficiency sensors into a specialized harness, the system detects pre-excretion biological and behavioral patterns in dogs. It provides real-time notifications to the owner's smartphone, allowing for timely outdoor breaks and reinforcing better house-training habits.

2. Structural Design & Ergonomics

The hardware is engineered for comfort, stability, and accurate data collection through a Dual-Point Connection System:

  • The Control Collar: A primary neck collar that houses the central processing unit (Microcontroller), a long-lasting rechargeable battery, and the communication module.

  • The Abdominal Sensing Belt: A lightweight, adjustable strap that fits securely around the dog’s lower abdomen. This is the "active zone" where sensors monitor muscle tension and pressure.

  • The Dorsal Bridge (Stabilizer): A thin, durable connector running along the dog's spine that links the collar to the abdominal belt. This ensures the sensors remain perfectly aligned with the target muscle groups regardless of the dog’s activity level.

3. Sensing Technology (The "Smart" Mechanism)

To maintain cost-effectiveness and durability, the system utilizes non-invasive sensors rather than complex physiological monitors:

  • Piezoelectric Tension Sensors: Embedded in the abdominal belt to detect specific muscle contractions and abdominal pressure increases that precede excretion.

  • Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU): An accelerometer and gyroscope combo to identify "signature behaviors," such as repetitive circling or the specific sniffing/squatting posture.

  • Surface Thermal Sensor: Monitors micro-fluctuations in skin temperature caused by increased blood flow to the digestive/excretory system.

4. System Workflow & Connectivity

Data Processing: The on-board processor analyzes real-time inputs from the abdominal belt.

Pattern Recognition: When the combination of muscle tension and behavioral posture reaches a specific threshold, a "potential event" is triggered.

Instant Alert: The device syncs via Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) or Wi-Fi to a dedicated mobile app.

User Notification: The owner receives an immediate, high-priority alert (sound/vibration) on their smartphone: "Your dog needs to go outside now!"
