Threadboard - The Robust Electronics Prototyping System

Have you ever struggled with prototyping electronics and mechatronic systems? Not from a technical perspective but from a practical one.

Engineers typically lay their designs out on a workspace, such as a desk, constructed with fragile electrical connections and peripherals and sensors tentatively balanced against small boxes and other equipment.

It can't be physically moved or stored and this fragile outdated process is often the source of errors, faults and even electrical shorts, wasting time and money and causing delay and costs in the prototyping and product development process. There are often challenges around ESD and the whole process just looks messy.

What if prototyping was conducted in a different way? Where everything was securely fastened to a fixed platform. Where the completed prototype can be replicated, stored, transported and even shipped to another location or direct to a customer. Where the completed prototype can be presented in a professional manner, not just as a bunch of interconnected boards and wires. What if the initial prototype could be simply transferred to a limited to production run using the same system.

This is the problem I personally had and the reason I developed the Threadboard prototyping system.

Threadboard is a flexible development and prototyping system for electronics and mechatronics. Threadboard has support for popular form factors such as Arduino, RaspberryPi, Beagle Board, PC/104 - and of course your own PCB's, devices and designs.

Threadboard is comprised of 3mm (M3 x 0.5) tapped, through holes in anodised aluminium or plastic (HDPE) and is accompanied by a range of accessories such as stands, adaptors and cases.

Threadboard also supports electronics breadboards using a baseplate (available as an accessory) and we continue expand the range of products and accessories to make the process of prototyping more efficient and easier.

Threadboard can be stacked, fixed to equipment or a wall and even connected together to make a matrix of Threadboards.

Threardboard is proudly manufactured by us in Australia in our own facility and been sold in limited numbers.

Our big vision is to change the way the prototyping of electronics and mechatronics is conducted. That every engineer has a soldering iron, a multi-meter, a logic probe and a Threadboard prototyping system as their standard equipment.

Since the inception of the product the big challenge was finding a way to create M3 tapped holes at scale and of high quality. Fortunately my retired father spent his entire career in mechanical engineering and machining and after much testing and development we have created a process to produce Threadboards in volume and have invested in the necessary plant and equipment.

The challenge has been market awareness of the product and changing the way people prototype.
