Problems with locating pipes in buildings and the ground, mostly made of plastic, causing problems and damage during renovations, repairs and reconstructions.
Pipes hidden under plaster, plasterboards, or in the ground create problems and the possibility of damage because even technical documentation often does not reflect their actual location.
This applies to water, sewage and gas pipes.
The solution is pipe position markers in the form of self-adhesive metal tape or attached to a band detected by metal sensors.
The best detectable tape is steel tape covered with an anti-corrosion layer.
Individual sections of metal tape should be capable of being connected with screws or soldered (electrical connection) in order to conduct electrical signals.
This allows a generator-transmitter with an appropriately selected frequency to be connected to the marker. This allows pipes to be located using a receiver with a ferrite or other directional antenna. An additional application of this system may be passive receivers powered by radio waves used for acoustic signaling or displaying various alarms, e.g. fire, danger - please leave the building, activated by security or services.
Such receivers are essentially maintenance-free and increase the safety of residents.
An additional element of pipe detection may be RFID markers stuck to pipes, which may contain information about length, diameter, purpose and medium.
