Every screen we hand our children was designed for adults. The iPad, the tablet, the phone, built with engagement loops, notifications, and infinite scroll engineered to capture attention and never let go. We've handed these adult systems to developing minds and watched the consequences unfold: childhood anxiety and depression have risen more than 40% since 2012, climbing alongside screen time built to maximize engagement rather than growth.
Parents know something is wrong. They feel the guilt every time they default to the iPad, not because they choose it, but because nothing better exists. Ahmi changes that.
Ahmi is the first software platform architected around how a child actually develops, from birth to age six. Where general-purpose devices are designed to keep children watching, Ahmi is designed to help them grow and then to be put down. Every app has a natural conclusion. The screen goes quiet when a child is done. There are no engagement loops, no manipulative notifications, no infinite feeds. It is, simply, the only screen designed to be set aside.
Our first device replaces the fragmented stack of products families already buy in a child's early years, the baby monitor, the sound machine, the night light, the audio story player, and the educational apps on a tablet. Instead of five disconnected devices that become obsolete within months, families get one platform that grows with their child across the entire 0–6 journey.
At the core of Ahmi is the Child Graph: a living developmental profile built from every routine completed, every story created, and every learning moment. Over time, Ahmi learns how each child learns, what motivates them, how they sleep, what they're ready for next. This longitudinal understanding allows Ahmi to give parents genuinely personalized guidance, and it deepens with every interaction. No competitor can replicate years of developmental data on a specific child. The Child Graph isn't a feature; it's the foundation.
Ahmi is built by a team that has shipped devices used by millions. Our founder built the top-selling kids' smartwatch in the United States. Our hardware co-founder built the original Amazon Fire TV and spent two decades shipping consumer electronics at Sony, GoPro, and Amazon. Every platform decision is grounded in developmental science through our clinical advisor, a child psychologist at Columbia University.
The early signal is clear. More than 1,500 families have joined our waitlist, and 150 have reserved with a credit card on file, before a single device has shipped.
Parents aren't just interested; they're paying ahead of launch.
We believe technology for children shouldn't be a compromise between convenience and conscience. It should actively support a child's development, respect how their brain grows, and point them back toward the real world. Ahmi is building the foundation that every child's technology should have been built on from the start, and replacing the iPad kid with the independent child.
