The Type II
Concept
The Type II is a small leaning vehicle that combines the maneuverability of a motorcycle with the safety and stability of a car. It employs an innovative direct-link leaning mechanism that allows it to shift its center of gravity into a turn. This allows the vehicle to have a narrow track for efficiency in a straight away while maintaining stability by widening its track in turns without complicated servos or actuators.
Problem and Existing Technology
Urban populations are increasing and cities are running out of room to accommodate the increasing number of commuters. We must use the existing infrastructure more efficiently ...
V-Rail Metro
Congested urban areas need mass transit the worst and are by far the most difficult to introduce mass transit to. This is do to existing development, high land cost, right-off-way issues, unpopularity of imminent domain, etc.
The elevating of trains and monorails for mass transit are nothing new, however there have been very few successful deployments in the last century. Most of the current light-rail and monorail systems rely on technology that is close to 100 years old; light-rails being nothing more than light(ish) trains, as the name implies, and mono rails are more or less cars on concrete ...
Intelligent, Secure, On-Demand Ride-Sharing System
The grand objective of this invention is to minimize traffic congestion problem everywhere and to deliver savings in time, fuel, productivity and mental well being of the society. With increasing population, convergence of demographic towards urban areas and increasing fuel costs, traffic congestion problem will exacerbate over time leading to greater economic losses to our society.
Various ride-sharing program have been pursued but none becomes widespread and popular due to lack of real-time and on-demand management of all the ride participants. This invention harnesses the ubiquity of various mobile computing devices to realize an intelligent and on-demand ride-sharing system ...
CoPilot Driving Aid
The CoPilot is a simple device that detects and interprets the acceleration of a vehicle. The device is used to help train a driver to drive in a conservative manner. In efforts to reduce a vehicle's fuel consumption, one of the greatest factors is how a vehicle is driven. Fast acceleration greatly increases fuel consumption. But how do we know what is considered conservative driving?
How it works:
-Set up the CoPilot through your computer (USB access) and select the vehicle model and your type of driving. This calibrates the CoPilot to display acceptable driving behavior.
-Place the CoPilot on the dashboard ...

Concept:
This wheelchair is inspired by racing cars and skate boards and designed for children. As an alternative to traditional wheelchair, Velomaxx is powered by arms. Therefore, every child, even kids with a disability who can’t use his/her legs, can enjoy a sportive yet comfortable ride. I wanted to create a wheelchair design that will allow kids to live their dreams of being a pilot of a race car, airplane or feel like they are in a science fiction world.
Target Market:
The target market of this wheelchair is children of age 6 to 12 years. I want them ...
E-Path: Sustainable Transportation & Energy Network
E-Path is a concept to facilitate electrification of the North American rail network while providing the right of way for the electrical transmission infrastructure needed to access the large amount of wind energy in the center of the continent. It then leverages the electrified rail network to provide an evolutionary path to fully autonomous intermodal rail service as well as a path to electrification/hybridization of commercial trucking. The intermodal carriages carry their own electric drive train that powers the rear set of tires. 4 deployable steel wheels carry the weight when on the rails. Initially the carriages would be ...
Electric Car Driving Range Extension
Electric Car Driving Range Extension by a Towed Generator System
PROBLEM: Many potential buyers of electric cars are very concerned about the driving range. These buyers occasionally have to make trips which are beyond the 35- 65 mile range of most pure electric vehicles. Some of these trips will be to places without charging stations, or over a long distance. The limited range of most electric vehicles deters many potential users who may have only a few long range trips.
SOLUITON: Take charging capacity with you with small gasoline powered generator system towed behind the electric car. A small ...
Bicycle Crank System with Dead Spot Elimination
This system is designed to eliminate the dead spot and enable the user to gain increased stroke power, thus also increasing the speed of the bicycle.
It is compose of a pair of crank arms of an obtuse configuration; each crank presents an orifice, located at the middle part of the crank’s vertex, that when connecting to the spindle allows them to integrate from left to right. These orifices' function is to work as attachment and leaning point for the crank arms. Each crank arm opposite to the pedal receptor presents another orifice that will integrate through another element ...
Human Powered Motorcycle
As petroleum becomes more expensive, worldwide more people will be using buses and trains to get around. A compact bicycle which can be carried easily on the bus, unfold quickly, and be comfortable to drive will enable people to reach the bus stops more rapidly. This vehicle has features one might expect in a car, and can be made smaller, lighter and cheaper than a bicycle.
This vehicle uses two flat pedals to drive pumps. The pumps store compressed air in a lightweight bottle. The air drives a slam valve compressed air motor which drives the rear wheel directly. ...
A Low-Cost IEC-Fusion Plasma Spacecraft Thruster
An electric-plasma thruster utilizing Inertial Electrostatic Confinement (IEC) technology has a potential application as a low-cost, high-efficiency thruster for Earth orbit maneuvering and interplanetary propulsive operations. The basic concept uses ion acceleration along with jet formation of the resulting plasma. It was originally demonstrated at the University of Illinois (U of I) as part of a fusion neutron source initiative at the school. An electrically driven counterpart of the fusion IEC has been conceived of by staff at NPL Associates, working in collaboration with U of I staff.
The IEC thruster uses a spherical configuration (similar to the classic ...
Railways on the Road
In the near future I would like the see the significant decrease/elimination of the use of gasoline. I also would like to see the transportation of people become safer. And decrease the car accident total to almost nothing.
The solution? The use of magnetic railway-like mechanics embedded in the road itself. Cars could then, using GPS, essentially drive themselves and eliminate manual driving, since the cars would be on the magnetic railway. It would quench the use of gasoline and avoid collisions on the road. With less gasoline on the road it would also be one large step towards a ...
The Great Big Gun
The "Great Big Gun" is a heavy lift orbital launch system designed to "shoot" large payloads to LEO. This is the "railroad" to space designed to provide low cost delivery of materials and equipment into orbit.
Consisting of a gigantic floating catamaran supporting a 50 foot diameter cast concrete electrical mortar, the giant platform is nearly a mile long and 600 feet wide. Cast into the mortar tube are electromagnetic coils that propel huge 50 foot by 200 foot long "bullets" to a muzzle velocity of 9,000 meters per second. This giant rail gun mortar (5,000 feet long) will ...
Regenerative Electric-Powered Aircraft
Adding the "regeneration" feature to an electric aircraft significantly extends the flight time, distance, and safety. The dual-role "windprop" provides power for self-contained takeoff, cruise, and climb, and as an airborne wind turbine, restores battery energy when the aircraft encounters updrafts and in final descent. In principle, a "smart autonomous" regen could remain aloft indefinitely at high altitudes. This and related presentations are found at ...
Ultralight Based Electric Powered Lift Body
Safety in small aircraft has been an issue since the beginning of flight, especially for lightweight engine powered personal airplanes also known as ultralight/microlight aircrafts. Currently these ultralights are rapidly transforming into high performance aircraft for recreational use with a very respectable speed and range. Electric powered ultralights have started to replace gasoline engines for these small aircraft, allowing a practical use of electric power systems for flying applications. Looking back at aircraft history, in 1921 aviator Vincent Justus Burnelli patented an airfoil shaped airframe to increase lift and load capacity of aircraft. Forward this time frame to the ...
DCD Controller for Fuel Saving Retrofitting
DCD stands for Dynamic Cylinder Deactivation, the latest fuel saving technology for internal combustion engines. Traditional cylinder deactivation started in the 1970s, and has been verified and proven over 30 years. But it has never been made into an aftermarket retrofitting product until now.
DCD deactivates all the cylinders inside the engine alternatively, dynamically and in a way of keeping thermal balance and mechanical balance between cylinders while keeping best engine overall torque balance. As a result, all the cylinders inside the engine would be working in an intermittent mode, being activated and deactivated alternatively. It is totally different ...
Automobile of the Future - Next Million Miles Free!
The huge amount of smoke the Internal Combustion Engine of an automobile (truck/car/bus) bellows, versus the clean ride we all enjoy on a bicycle, made me think of a cleaner source of energy to run the automobile which is not dependent on any sort of crude, not even on the Renewable Energy sources of the Sun, Hydro, or Wind power; is far easier and economical to build than the fuel cell, can be made available 24 X 7 almost without any cost.
It is actually the simple principle of a Dynamo which worked fine on my bicycle, magnified 100 times. ...
ElectraCopter
The ElectraCopter is a single-seat ultralight electric helicopter. At 150 lbs empty with batteries, it will fit into the 254 lb limit USA ultralight category for unlicensed aircraft. It can be potentially used in other categories and in other countries, depending on regulations and design criteria.
A mockup prototype of helicopter and motor has been built to verify weight is within 6% of projected figures. (image 1)
• This design idea updates 60 year old technology through simplification of design and hence, reduction of parts (KISS). Due to the semi-rigid rotor design, it also greatly reduces the time required ...
5 Stroke Internal Combustion (Otto) Engine
A. The background
The 4 stroke Otto engine
Internal combustion gasoline (Otto) engine is an basic prime mover for the passenger automobiles and many other applications. The problem with this engine is its inherently low thermal efficiency in order of 24 - 26%.
The egine works at well known 4 stroke cycle:
1. Intake
2. Compression
3. Expansion (work stroke)
4. Exhaust
B. The entry:
The 5 stroke cycle Otto engine.
The reason for the low thermal efficiency of the Otto cycle is the high content of unused energy in the exhaust gases. One of the ways to recover ...
Magneto-Spheres

Since its early days, the invention of the car changed the way human life was conceived. Distances were shortened, traveling was more comfortable and year after year technological development went further on in order to improve them. Engines, fuel, pieces and accessories are part of the infinite list of car components that evolve year after year making easier day to day transportation.
Among parts and accessories we find tires, those rubber toroids that allow transforming the engine’s power into movement. More than 100 years after the invention of cars, we cannot imagine a car without tires but…How much have they evolved ...
Human Powered Ornithopter
Flapping winged flight is the most efficient means of transportation in the natural world; consider that birds migrate thousands of miles on very little energy. Since Da Vinci men have dreamed of emulating the elegance of birds. Several fixed-wing designs have proven that the human body is capable of powering significant flight distances e.g. the gossamer albatross. With today's materials and construction techniques the dream of human-powered ornithoptic (HPO) flight is well within reach.
My design for HPO follows the basic size and shape of log-proven hang-gliders, combined with modern flexible composite materials to achieve a lightweight and flexible ...
