Envelopes are used to package items. Most envelopes are machine made and are done in big companies. Production of envelopes at home and in small shops by low income earners may be possible by introducing my portable device. The device is without suction cup and without endless belt conveyor means to transport envelope blank to various necessary parts of the machine for implementing various production steps in envelope making, thereby reducing power consumption and noise of the machine by 75%.
it may produce more than one type of envelope. it has a simple working structure with few parts. Iit may produce high capacity/volume envelope in order of 15,000 pieces and above in one hour. That is why it can execute folding which machine which is over 100 times bigger than it can do perfectly.
My envelope making machine has a rubber roller. This roller makes contact with the envelope blank loading tray. To produce an A4 size envelope you have to remove the inner butterfly structure used for side flap folding and to make medicine envelopes put the butterfly structure back into where it was removed. The butterfly structure is for folding the side flap. Rotation of the rubber roller performs the function of pushing the envelope blank out and prevents blank envelopes from shifting due to frictional effect when it makes contact with the structure for folding the side flap of the envelope blank.
The next process is application of gum or adhesive. This operation is done by liquid gum deposited inside a casing shown in the photo attached. The casing has a screw thread shaft operated by a knob. Attached to the shaft are a pair of cam lobes. Each pair controls the cam profile it make contact with to close and opens the small hole from which the gum is dispensed onto the surface of the side flap of the envelope blank when folding the envelope blank.
The last process is the bottom flap folding. This is implemented when the paper is pushed further forward and makes contact with a structure attached to a V- shaped plate which is at a right angle to the main body of the machine. The V plate folds the base flap of the paper. As it moves forward, motion of the envelope blank inside the machine is
immediately reversed when the base flap reaches the edge of the V- shaped structure. The reverse takes place in the direction out of the machine.
The machine may be produced for less than 50 US dollars. It can fold recycled news print, cardboard, and brown paper into envelopes. This can easily be implemented among poor people in rural areas.
