Autonomous Defense Robot for Threat Detection and Neutralization
This proposed idea introduces an advanced Autonomous Defense Robot aimed at meeting the urgent need for efficient, intelligent, and autonomous threat detection and neutralization, especially in high-security zones. The robot is designed to navigate, monitor, and respond to threats with high accuracy and agility, minimizing human intervention and risk.
At the heart of the system lies a Raspberry Pi 4 Model B (8GB RAM), which runs sophisticated navigation and image-processing algorithms under the Robot Operating System (ROS) framework. The robot features precise control mechanisms for its servomotors and BLDC motors, enabling swift and controlled movements. To ensure dynamic and obstacle-free navigation, the Dynamic Window Approach (DWA) Local Planner is implemented.
Environmental perception is achieved using a Logitech camera for visual input and an RP Lidar A2M12 for real-time 2D/3D mapping. Additionally, a RealSense Depth Camera enables accurate threat detection by providing depth-aware data crucial for classification and target verification. Deep learning models like YOLOv8 further support this by processing image data for real-time object detection and threat classification.
The robot maintains communication with the command center through the MQTT protocol, allowing low-latency, secure data transmission. A robust sensor fusion system, using an Extended Kalman Filter (EKF), integrates data from GPS, IMU, gas, and temperature sensors to maintain high localization accuracy and situational awareness in real time.
Upon detection and confirmation of a threat, the robot can execute defense actions through its adaptive shooting mechanism, powered by BLDC motors, allowing precise neutralization with minimal collateral damage. This mechanism can operate autonomously or under direct remote command depending on the threat level.
To ensure durability and extended performance, the robot operates on a high-capacity Li-Po battery, regulated by buck converters, and includes cooling fans to prevent overheating. The design prioritizes rugged operation in diverse and challenging environments.
Introduction
An Autonomous Mobile Robot (AMR) with integrated defense capabilities is a cutting-edge solution for modern security challenges. Equipped with LIDAR, depth cameras, and HD visual sensors, it autonomously patrols environments like borders or restricted zones. It not only maps its surroundings and avoids obstacles but also detects gas leaks, temperature spikes, and unauthorized entities.
This AMR significantly boosts operational safety by reducing human involvement in high-risk zones. With its real-time threat identification, communication systems, and remote-controlled defense response, it presents a powerful solution tailored for defense and surveillance applications.
