3-D’s Multilayered Grey Water Filtration Membrane

Our idea is to develop a multi-layered filtration membrane for purifying, deodorizing, decolorizing, disinfecting the grey water. Administrate UV treatment for photocatalytic degradation and deactivation of hazardous chemicals of the grey water.

  • The grey water first passes through the polyolefin membrane, then the multi layered membrane that consists of the polyethylene terephthalate (PET), chitosan, polyurethane cyclodextrin.
  • Finally passes the photocatalytic degradation chamber-UV/ZnO and then the recycled water is stored in the tank for agricultural purpose. Moreover, this can be a better idea because it is energy efficient, simple to design and operate.
  • The abundance of sulfo groups in the polyolefin family of thermoplastics a highly open and interconnected pore structure is chosen as the material for oil/water separation.
  • The developed multi-layer membrane's effectiveness as a disinfection material by stopping the growth of the bacteria. The interactions between the bacteria and the membrane's surface produce the antibacterial properties.
  • These interactions, will eventually culminate in the production of reactive oxygen species, which cause oxidative stress and break down the bacterial cell wall. Using ambient O2 as an oxidant and sunlight as an energy source, the ZnO-based photocatalytic method may completely mineralize organic contaminants and remove their toxicity from water.

Multifunctional filtration membrane made of polyolefin, polyethylene terephthalate (PET) ,chitosan, polyurethane cyclodextrin, and Zinc oxide (ZnO) which converts the grey water obtained into filtered water that can be used for agriculture purposes.

  • The membrane mainly focus on decolorization deodorization ,disinfection along with degradation of organic compound which leads to the filtration of grey water by flowing through the filtration membrane.
  • As they have multi chambers and membrane it filters the grey water more effectively and it may take more time for its manufacturing
