Large M-G Set Conversion

We've developed our unique SRM as a prime-mover, converting DC electrical energy from the solar panels into mechanical energy. This mechanical energy is then transferred via direct coupling to an electrical generator which converts the mechanical energy into clean electric power free from harmonic distortion. Our SRM is efficient, compact and reliable.

Our goal is to replace the electronic inverter with a mechanical motor-generator ‘MG’ set providing electrical isolation as a mechanical harmonic filter.

The MG set would serve a dual purpose by providing isolation from utility faults and under-voltage conditions or ride through such conditions to mitigate instability as well as providing mechanical inertia from the rotating generator.

Secondly, the MG would electrically isolate the grid from harmonic distortion generated by electronic commutation. Our 120kA 2 kV 41-phase Switched Reluctance Motor ‘SRM’ is mechanically coupled to a COTS generator to provide clean power to the grid.
