NanoTech Materials developed and patented the Insulative Ceramic Particle, which is integrated into building materials and coatings for heat control. This innovation enhances both energy efficiency and fireproofing by significantly reducing heat transfer and increasing material heat resistance.
NanoTech’s Insulative Ceramic Particle™ (ICP) was created to address critical challenges in energy efficiency and fire safety in the built environment. The novel particle can be integrated into various applications, and its impact ranges from reducing greenhouse gas emissions to protecting communities in wildfire-prone areas. The ICP technology enhances the thermal and fire-resistant properties of building materials, addressing both roofing and fire safety challenges.
NanoTech Cool Roof Coat, which incorporates ICP, is an acrylic coating that significantly reduces heat transfer by increasing the heat resistance of the materials to which it is applied. This results in lower indoor temperatures, reduced reliance on HVAC systems, and substantial energy savings—up to 50% compared to traditional coatings. Tested to Miami-Dade County standards, Cool Roof Coat’s ability to withstand harsh environments ensures long-term performance and reliability. Conventional roofing materials often lack the necessary thermal insulation, resulting in higher energy usage for air conditioning, increased utility costs, and elevated greenhouse gas emissions. Reflective coatings designed to reduce heat absorption lose effectiveness over time due to dirt accumulation and environmental wear.
By improving energy efficiency and extending roof lifespans, NanoTech Cool Roof Coat reduces the need for frequent replacements and repairs, minimizes waste, and promotes sustainability in construction practices.
ICP technology also offers advanced fireproofing capabilities to 3,272°F. In regions prone to wildfires, traditional building materials, especially wooden structures, are highly susceptible to damage. This endangers lives and property and contributes to significant economic and environmental losses. When integrated into the Fireproof Coat, ICP provides a robust defense for critical infrastructure against wildfires, protecting property, reducing economic losses, and enhancing safety for communities. NanoTech Materials has already contributed to fire protection efforts through emergency use approval, such as coating timber lagging along highways to help prevent flames from jumping the highway.
NanoTech Materials also developed a thermal protection called Insulative Coat: Cool Touch, a spray-on coating formulated with its ICP technology. Cool Touch stands out for its thermal barrier, application efficiency, and long-term durability for steam lines, heated tanks, boilers, and other high-temperature assets that pose risks of energy loss, personnel burns, and condensation-related corrosion. Cool Touch replaces metal jacketing and multi- layer insulation systems which are high in labor, cost, and long-term maintainability.
