Patients getting an MRI can feel panicky knowing that the top of the MRI tube restricts freedom of movement. The technique described here provides a cloud moire pattern created by separated perforated screens, which can be made to appear at the same optical distance (ex.: 7 feet) above their heads. Further, a matching pattern of dot clouds can be made on the lighted ceiling panels.
This gives the appearance of the overhead cloud pattern being one and the same, on the ceiling, and on the upper part of the tube. This way, when they are wheeled in the tube, they will see no change from looking at the ceiling, and looking up in the MRI machine tube. There are no moving parts for this technique, keeping the cost low.
When moving through the MRI machine, the view of the ceiling is replaced by the identical cloud pattern in the moiré window, making the patient feel less like they have been a confined tunnel, and making them more relaxed.
