Inspired by: LuminWalk was inspired by a moment of reflection on how infrastructure often prioritises the needs of the majority, unintentionally overlooking those with visual impairments. Many public and indoor spaces still lack tactile paving for the visually impaired due to its complexity of installation, inflexibility, and high cost. Although ceiling lights and tactile paving share the same walkway space, significantly more attention is given to maintaining the lights above than to the navigation aids on the ground. This disparity sparked the idea to repurpose existing lighting as a form of virtual tactile paving. It led to the creation of LuminWalk, built on the concept of Lighting Up Everyone—a solution that transforms everyday lighting into an inclusive navigation aid for the visually impaired.
