According to the World Health Organization, there are over 1 Billion people with disabilities on the planet. They are the group with the highest risk of social exclusion. Around 300 million people with disabilities are non-verbal and depend on alternative communication devices.

Moved by the needs of his disabled daughter, our CEO and Founder Carlos Pereira created Livox, an alternative communication software for non-verbal people with disabilities and people with learning impairments.

Through Livox can speak, learn how to read, how to write and abstract concepts.

What makes our software unique is the use of Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing.

Through Machine Learning Livox shows fewer options on a screen. These options will be based on the context of time and location. So, imagine a severely disabled child trying to communicate that he is hungry. Livox is capable of analyzing the user behavior and in the most likely time for him to be hungry, it shows a card saying: "I am hungry," so this person with a disability can say that. Regular alternative communication devices show dozens of items on a single screen making selection of what one may want to say an extremely hard task.

Through Natural Language Processing you can activate our software by just saying the name of the disabled person (similar to Hey Google) and then, ask any question.

Example:
Imagine the following scenario: a disabled girl named Clara is at her wheelchair with her Livox device attached to it. Her mother could say something like: "Clara [Livox starts listening] how many spoons of sugar you want in your coffee?" Livox uses Natural Language Processing to understand that the answer is a number and then, instead of showing dozens of items on a single screen, it shows just the numbers. Then, Clara can activate her answer on the device and Livox will say something like: "I would like three spoons of sugar".

Compared to regular alternative communication devices we can speed up the communication of non-verbal disabled people by 20 times.

My inspiration is my 11-year-old daughter, Clara. She has Cerebral Palsy due to a medical mistake during my wife's labor. Since from the moment I found out about her condition, empowering people with disabilities became a passion for me. Out of this passion, I created Livox and we are benefiting over 25,000 people with disabilities in 10 countries.
