Phenolic resins as base materials for automotive friction materials manufacturing shall be replaced by inorganic binders. Due to a casting process in manufacturing versus todays pressing process this will allow significant energy reductions, up to 80% compared to the standard process in manufacturing processes today. It will allow the partical emission during braking (WLTP) to be reduced by 50%, and the intergration of sensors to monitor brake performance at the pad-level besides other positive effects.

Particle emmision reduction has been confirmed by OEM partner on initial prototypes comparing our inorganic friction material with reference materials of the currently used products.
