For those companies that struggle to recycle their waste, Plastalyst recycles organic waste and plastic waste into chemicals such as monomers, hydrogen, carbon monoxide and methanol.

Uniquely, the process is below 200°C, produces no CO2 and only uses water as a solvent.

Plastalyst focuses on the most-difficult-to-recycle waste, such as cables, CFRP or circuit boards.

After completing pilot tests with Bosch, Toyota/Toyopet and Daikyo Nishikawa, we are now building the first-of-its-kind demo plant in Indonesia with PLN and Temasek Foundation.

Plastalyst has several advantages over the competition:

  1. Plastalyst allows the chemical reaction to take place at much lower temperatures than other catalysts. Uniquely it stays below 200° C and 1.2MPa, reducing operating costs. Because of this it can be operated from renewable energy such as solar power in off-grid areas e.g. on remote islands.
  2. Can be used for mixed waste, including ocean plastic, leading to huge savings in waste separation.
  3. It is completely green: no dioxin, no GHG emissions, no tar
  4. Waste is often recycled in batches. Our machines work continuously instead, leading to an increased throughput and higher revenue.
  5. The material produced from our catalytic process can be used to manufacture bioplastic, biofuel and many other products.
  6. Low safety hurdles: as the reaction temperature is 150-200C, safety regulations are almost the same as for kitchens. We use filters to prevent the leak of chemicals such as chloride, sulfur etc.
  7. It only uses industrial water as a solvent.

Unlike Pyrolysis, waste is not broken down to oil, but higher value chemicals.

We provide the solution for brands who currently cannot recycle their waste. We already work with global fashion, sports and shoe brands. Initially, we will build recycling centers as joint-ventures with chemical companies. In the long run, we will also license our technology and sell our catalyst to waste management companies.

Based on on GMI, the market size of oil & gas infrastructure was valued at more than USD 714.4 billion in 2023 and is poised to record a CAGR of over 6.7% from 2024 to 2032.

AC Biode is currently exploring software packages in several areas for to accelerate our innovation:

Reaction Kinetics: Software like ChemReaX allows users to model and simulate chemical reactions, considering factors such as temperature, pressure, and concentration. This helps in understanding how different conditions affect the reaction rate and yield.

The impact of a circular plastic supply chain is hard to imagine. Oil and gas companies will be able to make all products cheaper from waste than from crude oil. Also, this will result in a 90+% lower carbon footprint for the new plastics produced.

The higher recycling rate will lead to less plastic in nature and the oceans. The waste plastic will be worth more money, creating a strong secondary economy for collecting plastic. This will elevate millions of people operating in the informal sector from poverty. The environmental impact of less waste in the environment impacts particularly low-income communities that are suffering the most.
