A system for replicating high resolution surfaces, in this case a prosthetic surface. Mirroring and replicating a lost limb with personal detail including fingerprints and as fine as blood vessel and nerve fiber matrix interfaces. Patented methods for reproducing a 3D object surface are the base of the system. Some of the present applications are to create life like replicas for prosthetics It is the intention of this project to bring this level of 3D printing to the field of biointegrated orthotics and prosthetics, burn masks, and personalized bio-friendly “band aid” healing masks. As personalized medicine and biointegration become more commonplace, the kind of prostheses and orthoses used for Rehabilitative, Assistive and Augmented living will increase from the present multi billion-dollar market.

The main process is built around rapid prototyping technologies of 3D scanning, 3D processing, and 3D printing. A 3D scan is synthesized with personal biometric data and printed on a 3D Printer - a designed printer that can use biochemicals to create three dimensional patterns, including structures that can support biologic growth. Prosthetic restoration returns a person back to being a part and feeling a part of working society. By using and pushing the limits of precision digital technologies, great strides are made. Rapid and directed healing shortens process time by digitizing both the design and testing. Virtual patient processing, rather than moving information around physically, from facility to facility saves time, money, and resources.

Methods for making prosthetic surfaces
United States Patent 6177034
Methods for reproducing a 3D object surface are provided. A preferred method according to this invention includes (1) identifying a real object surface, (2) acquiring at least a 3D data set with a 3D surface imaging device, (3) acquiring at least a 2D data set using a 2D surface imaging device with a surface resolution of at least about 0.1 mm.sup.2, (4) synthesizing a 3D composite data set by orienting a first virtual image of the first data set and a second virtual image of the second data set to form a composite virtual image that corresponds to the composite data set, and (5) making a reproduction of the object surface with the composite data set. Orientation of the virtual images is relative to each other and without substantial loss of surface resolution.
