Segmented Filler Rod

The design is for a segmented welding filler rod for use with oxy-acetylene or TIG welding in steel aluminium copper etc..
The idea behind segmenting the filler rod is to allow the operator to deposit a precise volume of metal in steps along the joint to achieve a so called "fish-scale" or "nickle stack" effect.
The reduced cross section of the rod between segments limits heat conduction along the rod so the rod melts using less heat and allows the use of a larger diameter rod than would normally be used.
