Busy streets with speeding vehicles and blaring noise is a typical image of the automobile revolution. With increasing vehicular population, particularly two wheelers which are more vulnerable to accidents, there is increasing demand for the safety of both man and machine. More than 1000 people die every day because of accidents all over the world. One such case, where precaution has to be taken, is the side-stand. This mere carelessness causes huge damage to life and property. This problem provoked us to find an appropriate solution for it. Thus we have decided to generate some precautions or safety systems to avoid such negligence.
The idea of our project is to design a side-stand which avoids starting of the vehicle when the stand is not removed. This is because when the vehicle is running with the stand in its down state it may tend to unbalance the vehicle and causes damage to life and property. In order to avoid this, a push to break switch or normally closed switch is connected in series with the ignition switch (key) in the ignition circuit. The switch is mounted on the side stand.The side stand makes a contact with the switch when the stand is removed. Thus the ignition of the bike starts only when the stand is removed as it makes contact with the switch to close the ignition circuit. This could be the simple and cost efficient way to avoid the negligence of side stand. And an advantageous issue is that it can be used in all kind of two wheelers.
By applying this technique to motorcycles we can avoid accidents that are caused due to such negligence of removing the stand thereby providing safety to the rider as well as the property. The cost for mounting this setup on any motor bike is just Rs.70(INR).
