Abstract
Text independent speaker recognition using LabVIEW for security

Speaker recognition is the identification of the person who is speaking by characteristics of their voices (voice biometrics). Nowadays biometrics is being used extensively for the purpose of security. Voice is a most natural way of communication and non-intrusive as a biometric. Voice biometric has characteristic of acceptability, cost, easy to implement as no special equipment is required. Also voice based biometric system can be easily combined with other biometric systems to enhance the reliability and security of the system.

In our project a speaker recognition system will be developed using LabVIEW. Speaker identification involves features extraction, preprocessing, pattern matching, decision- making. Low–level acoustic features of a speaker are extracted using MFCCs (Mel Frequency Cepstrum Co-efficient). MFCCs are preferred for feature extraction as they provide more accuracy. speaker recognition can be done by various other features here we use vector quantization based recognition system using LabVIEW the system thus developed is user friendly and provides the results in real time.
