In the present world scenario, the search for effective utilization of renewable energy for power production is still under process. Renewable energy such as solar, wind, hydro energy is widely used for power production. Solar energy is available only in the daytime and can be used effectively in tropical and equatorial regions; the cost of installation and maintenance of solar panels is high. The wind energy is seasonal and not available year round. On the other hand, many perennial rivers have water flow throughout all seasons of the year and it is a main renewable resource extensively used for power production.
The hydro power offered by flowing water from perennial rivers remains unexplored and this work aims to use it. The device was designed to have a unique and simple design which produces the required rotary motion from the water flow in the river. The new innovative methodology of hybrid cam is designed to trap the energy supplied from the flowing water. The rotary motion produced can also be used to pump the water from the same river itself.
The components in the device automatically make the wings change their orientation in a particular position and retaining its original orientation making this design a “Position Memory Design.” This makes the wing function in a unique manner which is used to develop rotary motion using the river water flow. The power produced by using this device will serve to be eco friendly and will become a better alternative for future power requirements.
SALIENT FEATURES OF THE TURBINE
Eco-friendly – Construction of reservoir namely dams are not required. By this Flora and Fauna are preserved.
Cost Effective – No special construction such as pen stock and nozzle are required to produce any pressure difference.
Versatile Design – Device can be implemented in all the rivers as work space required to install this turbine is minimum and can work at varying water levels.
Power Generation & Conservation – Device can be used to generate electric power and also to pump water.
