Haptic Traffic Location for Motorcycles

Riding a motorcycle in heavy traffic is a nerve-wracking and dangerous experience, because despite being open, there are large blind spots on motorcycles. Being aware of the position and relative speed of the vehicles around you is paramount to your safety.

Haptic Traffic Location will adapt sensors used on automobiles. They will be mounted on the back of the motorcycle and wirelessly transmit the strength (distance) signal to an array of haptic vibrators like those used in cell phones embedded in the back of a jacket.

With practice, the rider will learn to correlate the position and intensity of the vibrations on their back to the distance and closing speeds of the traffic around them giving them a 6th sense of the traffic around them. This will allow them to focus on the road ahead instead of swiveling to track traffic visually.
