Rover Maintenance Dock

The entry works by maximizing the efficiency of the already existant technology. What makes it novel is the ease of use and implementation as well as the cost efficiency of overall functionality. It would be produced with the same technology in use for the build it components. It would be applied to any situation already using rover technology.

  1. The design is novel because not only does it extend the life of the rover, it also costs very little more to do so. It represents an important advance over the current state of the art because instead of losing time and money to send new tech you can use the dock to keep the mission functional and continue the data collection. There's an extremely rough draft seen in figure 1.
  2. It would be easy to implement. Cost-effectively manufactured/produced using the same tech as the rover's build processes. Unknown concerning if demonstrated to work. Sound logic.
  3. Marketability:
According to a recent report published by Allied Market Research, titled, “space rovers’ market by type and application: opportunity analysis and industry forecast, 2020–2030,” the global space rovers market was valued at $431.3 million in 2019, and is projected to reach $998.3 million by 2030, registering a CAGR of 9.2%.
On the basis of application, the space rovers market is segregated into commercial/mining and research. The research segment dominated the space rovers segment in 2019, owing to the launch of space rover missions for research purposes i.e., to find traces of water and past lives on extraterrestrial bodies. However, commercial/mining applications are becoming immensely popular, owing to prospects of mining precious metals such as gold, platinum, and silver; and increase in participation of private players in the space mining segment.
