This cooler target is to utilize a renewable energy technology that reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions to improving the food, medicine, and vaccine supply chains in Africa. Our product can freeze liquids and maintain the freshness of fruits, vegetables, medicines, and vaccines. It’s powered by solar photovoltaic (PV), wheel electricity, vehicle engine, and grid electricity with a brand name KASAMUCOOLER. The business reduces climate impact, creates jobs, pays tax, and promotes collaboration between academia and industry in Africa.

Every decade the world is getting hotter. This means we need more cooling. Presently, cooling equipment accounts for about 20% of the total global electricity consumption which is raising the global warming possibilities although it’s undergoing a tremendous transformation in energy systems. This transformation incorporates electrification and digitalization in order to save energy in a sustainable way and to achieve the Paris Accord of reducing global temperature rise to below 1.5 degrees Celsius before the year 2100.

We at Danquilah Solar Venture (DSV) are committed to adapting close by research findings on cooling equipment. We are also determined to operate cooling-as-a-service business model to manufacture and sale our solar powered fridges and freezers.

Foreign companies in Nigeria and local freezer fabricators produce and sale products on a cash and carry basis. This makes it difficult for low income earners to possess cooling device which is now becoming a necessity.

Our target is to utilize a renewable energy technology that reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions at the same time improving the food, medicine, and vaccine supply chains in Africa.

Our product can freeze liquids and maintain the freshness of fruits, vegetables, medicines, and vaccines. It’s powered by solar PV, wheel electricity, vehicle engine, and grid electricity with a brand name KASAMUCOOL.

This cooler can store vaccines at -20oC and will help ease life at rural and poor urban areas via utilizing traditional plus modern electricity and transport networks.

The provision of auxiliary services allows rural and poor urban children to read books at night, charge their cell phones and power radio/television. There is a plan to include GPS/GPRS tracking mechanism for user to apply Google map and get the cooler’s location details in real time.

The business reduces climate impact, creates jobs, pays tax, and promotes collaboration between academia and industry in Africa. Through this, we are solving the lack of storage and transportation of vaccines using locally innovative and internationally standard stuff that would improve the health and food sectors of the economy.

The total amount spent on prototype development is two hundred and fifty thousand naira (N250, 000) only. So far we have invested about two million naira (N2, 000,000) in research which took us to University of South Africa’s Institute for the Development of Energy for African Sustainability (IDEAS) in August 2018.
