A New Kind of Wind Power Generation

Here we are presenting a new kind of wind turbine that is comparatively smaller, compact and thus can be manufactured and maintained easily. It also doesn’t need any costly rotating mechanism for adjusting itself to the wind direction. But, it can generate high amount of power even at low wind speed by using venturi effect together with aerodynamic lift in a unique way. This machine would be a combination of special kind of wind turbine that has been known as “concentrated wind turbine.” The shape of the power generating section i.e. the wind turbine would be cylindrical from outside and inside so that it would be fitted the blades in between and that will rotate and the axis of machine would be connected to an alternator which would generate electricity and/or can supply necessary power to a machine for doing work. This machine would be a combination of special kind of wind turbine that has been known as “concentrated wind turbine”. The most important part is the concentrated wind turbine shaped power generation section. Various kinds of such turbines are now available in market and is being successfully used around the world. One such machine is INVELOX created by SheerWind Inc.

This machine can generate 5-6 times power in comparison to conventional wind turbines of similar size. It’s tested and now being used in many projects and power generation units around the world. There is another type called as “Darwin wind turbine” that too is dependent on the same principle and a company, named Ventum Dynamics, is now producing and installing a similar kind of turbine and many of these turbines can now be seen installed on various parts of UK and elsewhere. A CAD model has been built and tested in ANSYS. It has been found that at 3600 RPM and at 6 m/s inlet velocity (for a 35 cm diameter model), the torque found to be is 1.52 Newton-Meter, that simply means 572 W output from the machine at 6 m/s velocity.
