Safety tape will allow retailers to reduce or even eliminate the use of box cutters which will reduce injuries. It will also increase speed of opening boxes.Thus reducing insurance costs by reducing injuries and increasing productivity.

Safety tape is standard clear packing tape with a thread imbedded in the center of the tape strip along the length of the tape. At every 12 inches there are 2 cuts in the tape and thread in a half circles. This circle allows for a finger nail or other object to grasp the tape and thread and pull. Once the thread is pulled it will split the tape allowing for easy opening of the box. Thread can be cotton, nylon or an increase in the thickness of the tape. The thread path may or may not have adhesive applied.
