We designed high power DC modules intended to help electric vehicles (EV) charger manufacturers to expand their product line to fast chargers reaching hundreds of kilowatts to megawatts.

Our HIPO™ module design provides superior performance in fast-charging applications with multiple interface options to energy storage and renewable energy sources. It is compact and energy efficient.

The main advantage of our power conversion technology is the multi-step rectification approach which improves the performance over other converter technologies. With our multi-step approach, the inlet transformer is adjusted as needed to reduce the stress on the power electronics.

An analogy would be that our technology is similar to a multi-gear mountain bike while others use single gear bicycle. They have a hard time starting at low speed as well as keeping up at high speed. With our bike, we can shift to the optimum gear as the speed changes. Our HIPO™ modules continually select the optimum transformer windings for proper operation of the power electronics. The result is an improvement in efficiency and a reduction of the overall charger cost.

Another advantage of our technology is the good power quality at the AC grid. This is particularly important for large chargers installed on limited power grids. The bad power quality of some chargers reduces the useful power available and can produce enough harmonics to disturb other equipment sharing the AC line. Their lower power factor also requires a larger connection to the grid than would be needed by our technology.

A third advantage is the optional circuits to implement energy storage and interface to renewable energy sources such as solar and wind. This is done without the wasteful DC/AC/DC conversion equipment used by others. Our method is highly efficient and cost effective. This can solve the issues large chargers have with peak demand as well as reducing both the CAPEX and the OPEX of the installation. The design is so versatile that it can also power an electrolyser to produce hydrogen during the down times.

All of these are achieved using our patent pending circuit. This circuit produces these advantages with a remarkably simple topology compared to most other EV charger technologies.
