Inspired by: In 2011 several meetings regarding future projects involved the same theme: essentially measuring strain on a balloon, which was something we were not capable of doing with discrete sensors. After a thorough paper search for a commercial device to measure high elastic strains, a Web picture of a medical plethysmography sensor opened the door to what was later modified and successfully used for NASA’s HIAD tori testing.
