Aware of the mobility problems faced by the 24/7 persons in megacities, a new line of research is explored in order to envision a respectful commuting.
In pursuit of holistic design, this project suggests to encourage lifestyles that stimulate harmony and coherence between the individual enjoyments and collective privileges.
By taking the simplicity and efficiency of bicycles and comfort of automobiles, this alternative of an essential vehicle is proposed.
It is conceived as a “zero emission” mobility unit. A complete electric vehicle is achieved when two bicycles are integrated to the cockpit and by assembling or disassembling the device, users may have the chance of choosing the appropriate kind of transportation according to their needs, desires and context; all this in a package that intertwine modalities to reduce the number of components, therefore obtaining significant environmental benefits.
The cockpit offers full weather protection for two persons with a convenient cargo capacity for each one. Full use of electronics and servo assistance is proposed to connect bicycles with the cockpit, controlling “drive by wire” steering, acceleration and braking when a more sheltered, intimate and effortless commuting experience is chosen.
Adoption of emergent technologies such as self-driving vehicles, will enhance passive safety and relaxation of users; also will contribute with a better space efficiency in the streets, and formations derived from biomimicry will improve aerodynamics of the group, getting lower energy consumption and approaching de benefits of mass transportation.
Requested door-to-door “taxi” services, “hire in place” or co-ownership are other use possibilities. And last but not least, minimal changes in the vehicle layout consent to offer an affordable commuter for the wheelchair users, integrating them to the mobility system conceptualized.
