Nowadays for cooking LPG is widely used everywhere. This LPG is a non renewable source of energy. The price of LPG is also hiking day by day. The solar instruments such as solar water heater, solar cooker, solar lights, solar collectors, etc. are familiar where there is ambient solar energy. On the same basis this is designed:
Solar stove consists of three parts
1. Solar fluid recharger (collector)
2. Solar fluid storage
3. Solar fluid discharger (stove)
1 Solar fluid recharger (collector)
A solar fluid recharger (collector) collects heat by absorbing sunlight. A collector is a device for capturing solar radiation. Solar radiation is energy in the form of electromagnetic radiation from the infrared (long) to the ultraviolet (short) wavelengths. The quantity of solar energy striking the Earth's surface averages about 1,000 watts per square meter under clear skies, depending upon weather conditions, location and orientation.
They consist of (1) a dark flat-plate absorber, (2) a transparent cover that reduces heat losses, (3) a heat-transport fluid (air, antifreeze or water) to remove heat from the absorber, and (4) a heat insulating backing. The absorber consists of a thin absorber sheet (of thermally stable polymers, aluminum, steel or copper, to which a matte black or selective coating is applied) often backed by a grid or coil of fluid tubing placed in an insulated casing with a glass or polycarbonate cover. In water heat panels, fluid is usually circulated through tubing to transfer heat from the absorber to an insulated water tank. This may be achieved directly or through a heat exchanger.
Thus it is used to heat the fluid only.
2 Solar fluid storage
This is generally an isolated tank like a thermos, here hot fluid is stored. Just like water heater tank and it is detachable.
3 Solar fluid discharger (stove)
This is like an reverse collector, here there is tuber which carries the fluid anda sheet of metal is there on it which acts as the conducting surface which releases heat. The pan or other utensils can be kept over it and cooking can be done. It is attached to the storage just like LPG cylinder is full detachable.
Here any conducting, non hazardous ,less viscous ,anti corrosive type of fluid should be used. Vegetable oil, water, etc. can be used.
This system is similar to a normal LPG stove. Here if storage is filled with hot fluid then it is detached from collector and attached to the stove to use the heat stored. On the discharge of fluid the storage is detached from stove and attached to the collector to recharge it.
