An economical robotic book scanner capable of converting books of any size into JPEGs without destroying the binding.

Scanners used now-a-days requires an operator to manually scan each and every page of a book. This seems irritating and is time-taking. Also, digitizing books has been an issue tackled by companies to allow people to read off Kindles and iPads rather than the traditional paperback. Yet, not much effort has been made into the invention of an automatic book scanner for consumers. This project seeks to determine a cost-effective approach to robotic book scanning to create JPEGs from physical books. Our product stands as a solution to eliminate the drawbacks of present day scanners. The design ensures fast and cheap scanning of books of all kinds that can be used at all households, offices etc.

The growth of the field of Robotics and the urge of the people to have fully automated equipment is being increased day-to-day and this gave us the idea. There are other automated book scanners in foreign countries which are at high prices, not affordable for personal use. Also there are no such products of INDIAN origin. We have built the miniature (working model) of the product and the fully commercialized product is being fabricated. We are trying to fabricate it with highly efficient, sophisticated and robust equipment and mechanisms before introducing to the market. For full scale production of the product and to add features based on public interest in the near future, we are in search of financiers.

The Robotic book scanner works this way

⦁The user should manually set the V-shaped Base according to the book size and place the book in open condition in the prescribed place.
⦁When the user commands the Robotic Book Scanner by giving a start trigger through the switch, the process initiates.
⦁When the initial process of glass mechanism is completed, the camera interface unit will capture the image of the book.
⦁When the trigger goes to the Base unit after image capturing, the sequence resumes in which the page turning mechanism comes into action.
⦁This sequential process continues until the whole book is captured and saved as JPEG images in the interfacing PC/Laptop.
⦁This Robotic Book Scanner will help the users to save and digitize the old books and documents with less cost.
⦁This Robotic Book Scanner will reduce all the manpower required in the usual scanning process and it possesses user friendly interface.
