This project is about the concept of a new engine called variable volume engine. In the variable volume four stroke engines, during the suction stroke there will be one volume and during other three strokes, there will be another volume. Thus the volume of variable volume engine is not constant.
The main aim of this type of engine is to achieve a combined advantage of variable compression ratio and supercharging. It is observed that overall efficiency of the engine is also increased. Thus variable volume engine has the advantage of increased volumetric efficiency due to supercharging and increased efficiency of the engine due to both supercharging and variable compression ratio. Thus the design and analysis of variable volume engine is done and the efficiency of conventional engine and variable volume engine is compared.
