The proposed concept of active brake cooling in racing cars called G -Cooling System
(GCS) is designated for the Formula One racing cars. Another group/type/ area of races where you can apply GSC is high class racing sport cars (Porsche, Lamborghini, Mustang ...). The cooling system is based on the assumptions of operation at high speeds. Whether it is possible to deal with the brake cooling system using GCS in passenger or goods vehicles, it is an issue; however, it cannot certainly be ruled out.

Background solves cooling of the disc using one-way flow. The main stream of cold air is fed via line into the centre of the disc and consequently no longer heated air is blown around the perimeter of the free space. The main idea of G- Cooling System is in its dual cooling. This technology is a combination of two known functional principles which have not been applied and combined together in the case of brakes yet.

Figure "Concept.jpg" shows a cooling solution of the braking system of Formula 1 consisting of a modified brake disk and the cover disc, which was called diffuser (cover).

Necessary adjustments are secondary ducts drilled across the disc exact location of primary blades. For correct functioning of the whole system brake disk was equipped with brake cover. GCS is designed so that the cooling air flow entering to the primary channels do not mix with the hotter air flow at the outlet of the secondary lateral ducts. Diffuser has also been provided with secondary diffuser blades to avoid aerodynamic blockage in the media area of the diffuser and simultaneously the medium has had enough energy to pass through the secondary ducts. The same analogy can be found in radial compressors. It can be seen in Fig. 1 by transparent color, which contains a number of secondary forward curved blades.

The cooling air is shown by the blue arrow. Then air flow is supplied to center of the disc and by primary radial blades forced is directed around its circumference. Using secondary blades of diffuser the air is directed into the space under the diffuser, where part of the kinetic energy is converted into pressure. Compressed air flow is vented through the disc by the secondary transverse ducts.

General advantages of the GCS:

• Partial protection of the brake disc and brake calliper with brake lining against the climatic impacts (salt, water, snow, etc.)
• Protection against thermal shock
• Increased braking performance
• Longer component life due to the elimination of the abrasive effects of ambient particulate matter
• Increased environmental protection
• Cheaper material costs
