Without a connected interface or configurable modes, legacy systems support a limited set of preset fault conditions with limited configurations.

The goal of the digitization process is to retrofit existing standalone thermal systems with active analytics, error handling, remote servicing capability. Requirements for a embedded smart device are created as a template for adaptation for a general use case for system functions in environmental data input, logic and storage, actuation, and data transfer to any connected interface.
