The working, full size prototype boat can be used to provide humanitarian relief in shallow waters and can be easily beached and left aground (sits level) as a generating station. The boat can be an operating room, clinic, blood transfusion lab, med school annex or placed on a trailer for over road transport. There is enough stored solar electric power to move the boat at navigable speeds and supply medical needs and equipment Hundreds of horsepower are not required for this 6 ton, 13 meter MOG Totally Electric Powered Solar (TEPS tm) boat. An acceptable displacement hull speed of 8 miles per hour requires about 14 horsepower. Energy from the solar array into the battery banks for the electric motors along with new high power and density batteries make it eco manageable. The design of the totally solar electric yacht, with two inboard or outboard 20 hp motors, is designed around a newer completly solar roof, with an ultra shallow .5 meter water draft, yet handles well at slow speeds with less than a 3 meter height above water. All electricity for drive and appliances comes from the solar array atop the boat and can be augmented, if desired, with the addition of an Alkaline Fuel Cell as used by NASA space flights. A new AFC methodology has been patented for a more economical and produceable fuel cell that runs on ammonia cracked into hydrogen on board the boat. The fuel cell is easier to stop, start and cooler to run than PEM type fuel cells.
Ammonia, the second most common chemical produced on Earth, is cheap and each nitrogen carries three hydrogens. The ammonia cracker patent covers the on board device and its relation to the fuel cell. Ammonia tanks store more available H2 than heavy, high pressure hydrogen cylinders. The batteries, cracker and fuel cell are products from Apollo Energy Systems (AES), an investment opportunity in which MOG participates. The light weight electric drive motors & batteries are of high commercial efficiency. The advanced motors produce over 20 hp each (40 total) and are now commercially available, such as the Elco electric outboard and inboard motors. Waste is processed by composting commodes and utilize a MOG proprietary evaporation unit for excess liquid effluent.Air conditioning, refrigeration, microwave, communications, lighting and drive systems are all powered by solar energy. A new thin film solar roof collection system can fold out to supply nearly 10 kW without the use of the alkaline fuel cell. The drive system is both mechanical and remotely controlled. The remote control can function off board the boat from 1/4 mile away.Water makers and purifiers are available and electrically efficient. The roof also provides catchment areas for rainwater that is diverted into separate tankage for future purification. This totally solar electric boat has cruised hundreds of miles in east coast salt waters from Maryland to Florida demonstrating its versatility for humanitarian application.

Nearly 80% of the world's population is within 100 kilometers of oceans. Emergency clinics & hospitals are needed for that population during a crisis.
Hurricane Katrina and Sandy were proof of the insurmountable suffering endured by hundreds of thousands of people without access to small dry clinics that could have been positioned immediately following the storms. Communities cut off completely by only 1 to 2 meters of still water. As the water recedes, so do the boats or they can remain level with the ground.
Thousands suffered because of insufficient outreach treatment, in their immediate location, that could loiter in an area and visit hundreds of homes a day. Personally dispensing medicine, physical support and mental support is paramount.
Although over 30,000 were evacuated by helicopter in New Orleans alone, more effective search, recovery and immediate medical assistance could have been performed using the shallow water self generated powered boats.
Many more people could have been serviced right in their local area and triaged for a more orderly removal, especially for elderly, juvenile and injured survivors. The boats, with radios and GPS could pass on critical information to air and wheeled vehicles better suited elsewhere.
Boats could also furnish small amounts of fresh made water and lowering typhoid and cholera incidence.
The need for a portable, self energized & powered clinic/hospitals fanning out over large areas is an idea so far removed from current search & rescue, that its critical implementation is completely unseen.
Medical & technical solutions are useless unless transported to the site needed including responders versed in their use. Just helicopters are not the answer, self powered lightweight air transportable boats are the answer.
