Ocean plastic waste is as challenging as the land or city plastic waste management. Because of this plastic waste, many aquatic living organisms are in danger. Every year, 8 million metric tons of plastic end up in our oceans. It's equivalent to five grocery bags filled with plastic for every foot of coastline in the world. There have been many types of research done concerning this problem but only a few possible solutions has ever been proposed. But this design will be our solution that the world has been waiting for.
This project is about building a garbage collecting mechanism in oceans that are installed in every maritime transport to collect plastic garbage wherever they will go. Maritime transport is the transport of people (passengers) or goods (cargo) by water. There are many types of maritime transport like Cargo Ships, RoRo (Roll on Roll Off), Tankers, Passenger Ships, Fishing Vessel and High Speed Craft. These means of transport go through the ocean 24/7. Most of them are big interns of size and most of them have good power capacity. This project is installing a garbage collecting mechanism on all of these maritime transport and collect it into the transport until they deliver the collected plastic waste to the port for further processing. This project is highly practical, cost saving and will change how we see collection of plastic wastes in oceans. The design for installed plastic garbage collecting mechanism is very simple and I will upload the design in the coming few weeks.
The basic process is a net that is installed in every maritime transport will collect the plastic wastes wherever and whenever the maritime transport moves. Then if the collected plastic garbage is heavy for the maritime transport to drag, it will automatically collect and put into the ship. But if dragging the collected plastic waste does not affect the performance of the ship, it will drag until it reaches the port for further management. The port also act as a collection for every plastic waste collected from different ships.
