Large trucks produce excessive greenhouse gasses due to inefficient reciprocating engines and complicated gearboxes. This hovercraft would be much better because it eliminates friction with the road surface due to flexing tyres and suspension. It can also run on alcohol, a non fossil fuel, which can be produced from corn.
Ice makers that dispense ice through the freezer door can be a wonderful convenience — when they actually work. However, they have not improved over several decades, and they can take up over a cubic foot of space in a freezer. Many people hate their ice makers.
A conventional ice maker is noisy, unreliable, and unpredictable.
This proposal would fill a ballistic projectile ie artillery or mortar shell with a liquefied inert gas, and fire it upwind of an isolated wildfire. The projectile would not detonate but would disperse LIG over the hot spot. This would cool the fire and displace air thereby removing two elements of the fire triangle, heat and O2 (fig 1).
The known vertical-axis Darrieus rotors have a number of advantages over horizontal-axis turbines.
