Epilepsy Neurologist & Physician Scientist
Rush University Medical Center
Chicago, IL
Marvin A. Rossi, MD, PhD, received his medical degree from Rush Medical College in 1996. His doctoral degree is in Molecular Biophysics. His work addresses neural plasticity as it relates to neurostimulation and molecule delivery strategies for the treatment of refractory epilepsy and brain cancer. Dr. Rossi completed his neurology residency training at the University of Chicago Hospitals and served as faculty-elected chief resident from 1999-2000. After finishing an ACGME accredited clinical neurophysiology fellowship at the University of Chicago in 2001, he returned to Rush to complete an advanced epilepsy fellowship. Currently, as assistant professor and attending at Rush, he has been integral in establishing a translational research initiative for developing neuro-visualization techniques and targeted nano-control neural interfaces. These diagnostic and therapeutic strategies are focused on curing refractory epilepsy and brain cancer. An additional aim of this translational research initiative is to provide new insights into the underpinnings of information processing at the synaptic and brain circuitry levels. Progress of ongoing research projects can be followed in the laboratory at, http://www.synapticom.net.
