Scallop Imaging’s seven megapixel Digital Window D7-180 video surveillance camera is the first stand-alone computational imaging system, able to stream and record in full-color high resolution throughout its 180° field of view, without fisheye distortion. The imaging task is distributed among five powerful microsensors, synchronizing and assembling their output in the camera head.
The original idea was to make a small axial generator to fit on top of existing “Whirly Bird” axial roof ventilators. However, the effective swept area of a whirly ventilator is small and with a wind speed of 4m/s (annual Western Cape average) it could not be expected to produce more than 20 watts. After Suddam Hussein blew up the oil wells in Kuwait during the Gulf War, the Department of Energy, British Petroleum and the Red Adair company were given three inventions for putting out the oil well fires faster in Kuwait. Red Adair used the water ring invention to extinguish some of the oil well fires in Kuwait.
